Greenhouse Holistic Class Descriptions

Anusara Yoga - A style of yoga developed by John Friend known for its life affirming and heart centered approach. Anusara focuses on moving with integrated and balanced action through the use of the Universal Principles of Alignment and energetic loops.

Ashtanga Yoga - A system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures–a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.

Intro to Ashtanga - Learn the basics of Ashtanga in this slow moving class using props.

Iyengar Yoga (Levels I, II, III) - Iyengar yoga places emphasis on physical alignment and precision in the poses in order to build concentration, strength and flexibility. Emphasis is also placed on pranayama(breath). Iyengar Yoga is based on the teachings of the living yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar, author of the classic yoga treatise Light on Yoga, who began teaching in Pune, India, in 1936 at the age of 18. Props such as blankets, blocks, and straps are used.

Jivamukti Yoga - Flowing vinyasa sequences partnered with Sanskrit chanting, traditional Vedic and contemporary teachings and commentary, breath awareness, meditation, hands on adjustments, and relaxation. Intermediate level of practice suggested.

Classic Hatha Yoga - This 2 hour class is comprised of meditation and long held postures focusing on the breath.

Pilates - A series of exercises to strengthen the core and develop muscle strength & proper alignment throughout the entire body.

Prana Yoga - Deep awareness on accessing the body's prana (life force) through chanting, chakra sounds, postures, pranayama and guided meditations.

Pranayama - Breathing exercises which enhance awareness and preparation for meditation.

Restorative Yoga - An active relaxation. The body is supported with props to stimulate and relax thus reducing stress. Restorative poses are for those times when you feel fatigued or stressed from your daily activities. This practice is appropriate for injuries or illness.

Vinyasa/Restorative - The first hour of this class is a flowing Vinyasa followed by a half hour of deep relaxation in Restorative and/or Yin postures.

Belly Dance - This art form is derived from the traditional dances of the Middle East and North Africa. Like the music of this region Belly Dance is often a festive, celebratory dance but can also express a great range of passion and sensuality. It has become hugely popular in the West as a fun, sexy, low-impact/high-energy form of dance and exercise that embraces all body types.

Friday Night Sweat and Flow - An upbeat and fun way to end the week with music and asana. Inversion experience recommended.

Vinyasa Express - A 1 hour class consisting of a flowing sequence of postures for all levels.

Vinyasa Yoga - Vinyasa literally means "moving with the breath." Postures are linked in a flowing style; the pace of this flow may vary depending on the teacher.

Rock Om - A playful open level vinyasa class set to a rockin' playlist.

Martial Arts For Yogis - Martial Arts For Yogis combines movement and conditioning exercises from a myriad of disciplines. Learn techniques for bio-mechanical efficiency, explosive movement, increased strength and core stability. This challenging course will not only provide you with a great workout; it will help you take your Yoga practice to the next level. From Shaolin Kung Fu to Taos Nabard to Circus Arts, these body conditioning techniques will work fast to make your movements both stronger and softer, develop durable joints and deepen your practice. Open to all levels.
